Collection of Form K (BORANG K)

After 191 days , 6.3 months (counting from the day of my  MY-RN1 Acknowledgment Slip collection ). I received an email from Consular Division, High Commission of Malaysia, stated that I can collect the BORANG K and birth cert from the Consular within 1 month from the date of that email. This is in fact the last step from the Malaysia side. For Singapore ICA, I would need to upload the BORANG K to their website once I got the physical copy from the Malaysia Consular. ###################### Content of the Email ###################### Subject:  RENUNCIATIONOF MALAYSIAN CITIZENSHIP – COLLECTION OF FORM K Date               : 1 April 2021   Ref no.           : XXXXXXXXXX Dear Sir/Madam, RE: RENUNCIATION OF MALAYSIAN CITIZENSHIP – COLLECTION OF FORM K Kindly be informed that your application for renunciation of Malaysian Citizenship has been approved. Please come personally  to  collect your FORM ‘K’ / Birth Certificate from the  Consular Section  between  2.30pm  to  4.00pm only, Monday

I want to drive to ICA Building, where to park?

Car park opposite ICA building is under upgrades work, where should I park my car? Near and yet cheap 😛 I parked here and walked across the river, it is just a short walk. After I settled my stuff, I had my early lunch at  North Bridge Road Market & Food Centre

BORANG K

I guess many people will be interested to know more about this "mysterious" form, BORANG K . True enough, this 2-pages yellow form is fully written in Bahasa Malaysia (Bahasa Melayu if someone prefers). This is the most important form for you to fill up during your renunciation of Malaysia citizenship . Let me share some important details in it. Subject of the Form: AKUAN PELEPASAN KEWARGANEGARAAN MALAYSIA Means "Recognition of Malaysia Citizenship Renunciation". First Paragraph, it asked for the SIJIL BERNOMBOR Write your Birth Cert number Bottom Section, all personal particulars: BUTIR-BUTIR MENGENAI PEMBUAN AKUAN Write your Name, IC number, Singapore address, Date of Birth, etc. You would need to sign the form. Officer will take both your right and left thumbprints. Second Page (last page) Write your Name and Singapore Address. DO NOT sign, as the signature space is for the Consular Officer to sign. The bottom part, leave it, for official use only. EASY, if you k

Right of Entry (ROE)

Which Passport to use for my kid below 21 years old? They are part of my Singapore citizenship application. They can hold 2 passports at the same time, both Malaysia and Singapore. When they reach 21 years old, they need to renounce the Malaysia citizenship and officially take the oath to become a Singaporean ( Or otherwise, if he/she prefer to become a Malaysian instead, he/she does not need to do anything, Singapore will revoke his/her rights after the deadline given, by the age of 22 years old ). If you prefer your kid to use the Malaysia Passport for now (either to save money or the convenience of entry into Malaysia), you need to get a Right of Entry (ROE) endorsement at ICA. You can do it along with your Singapore citizenship registration . Fill up a form, ICA will stamp the ROE on the kid's Malaysia passport, on the last page. The ROE is valid till the year he/she reaches 21 years old. However, you need to stamp it again if the kid got a new Malaysia passport. Note: If the

Got my Passport!

After I received the news of my passport application approval, I immediately made my passport collection appointment online on ICA website. Today is my collection day! Went to Level 2, ICA. Scanned my digital IC 's barcode at the kiosk (self-service machine). Immediately, my queue number is called. The officer tested my iris (maybe face as well) recognition. Also, tested my right thumb print's recognition. All passed and I am good to go! Hurray! Note: the officer was asking for my old passport and my IC for verification. I told her this is my very 1st Singapore passport 😁

Singapore Passport - Online Application

Once my digital IC turned pink , I proceeded to apply for Singapore Passport online at ICA website. That was actually the very next day after my citizenship registration . The key thing is the Photo (soft copy): Photo guideline is available on the ICA website. Take note that the size, try to meet the 1.285 ratio as close as possible (400 x 514 pixels, etc). Note: Mine is 1.2862... and it passed. Fees: $70 I received an ICA email notification of passport approval on the 2nd workday after my online passport application. Note: The email was sent at 4:00AM. So, I guess it took 1 working day to complete (I assume Saturday and Sunday are not counted as working days). During this COVID time, we must make an appointment for passport collection. The earliest date of appointment for my case is on the 4th workday  after my online passport application. The collection is at ICA but we could collect it at a selected Post Office too, with some fees.

Digital IC?

As part of Singapore's National Digital Identity (NDI) initiative, physical IC might be obsoleted in the future. The very next day after my Singapore Citizenship registration, around 10:30AM, I noticed my National Digital Identity Card in my SingPass Mobile App has turned PINK  from blue. Hurray! Note: Singaporean is holding a pink IC whereas PR is holding  a  blue IC
