Formality - Registration of Singapore Citizenship

Image
My earlier fixed ICA appointment was on 25-Sep-2020 , just-in-time as I have got the Acknowledgment Slip from Malaysia Hign Comm on 23-Sep-2020. What to bring: Blue IC (the one Singapore Permanent Residents hold) Letter from ICA which states "Final Step" Renunciation of Malaysia Citizenship Acknowledgment Slip + 2 photocopies (btw, ICA only took 1 photocopy) 3 photographs in passport format I reached to ICA building 30 mins earlier (I drove, parked my car here ). Did the SafeEntry Check-in and temperature check, proceed directly to level 6. At level 6 self-kiosk machine, I tried to scan the barcode on the ICA letter, not successful. Then, I tired with my IC, it worked! Got the queue number. Waited for about 40 mins, my queue number is called. ICA officer was friendly. He explained to me the details. I signed on some docs, they took my biometrics details (thumbprints + 3 pictures took on the spot by the camera fixed on the table). He punched a hole on my blue IC, my blue IC

### This is the next step after you submitted the Renunciation of your Malaysia citizenship ###   2:45PM - Reached the Malaysia High Comm. Queue was snaking . Felt like baking under the Sun. Lucky I brought my umbrella. Had a chance to talk to the Malaysia kawan in Melayu. Most of them came for passport collection. I was going to Consular, unfortunately it shared the same long queue.  3:10PM - After 25 mins in the queue, finally reached the security post. Filled ip the Health Declaration Form, exchanged pass with my Malaysia Driving License, also shown her my collection slip in red. Proceeded to the Consular Section. Within 5 mins, I got the Acknowledgment Slip, in fact it is the MY-RN1 form itself.  DONE!

Long Wait...

Frankly, this week is very long..... I lost my Malaysia citizenship and have not officially registered as Singaporean, I am stateless now! Calm, calm, that's all I can tell myself.

17-Aug-20 - Due to COVID-19, the High Commission of Malaysia in Singapore does not open to the public. For any consular related matters, we must first email them (consular@mhc.org.sg) to book an appointment in advance. I emailed them on 17-Aug. Got a reply on the same day. 18-Aug-20 - Received email reply from Consular. The appointment Date is 18-Sep, 10AM (1 month later). Need to print this out as proof of appointment. 18-Sep-20 - >>>>>>> IT'S THE DAY! A Friday. As I drive, I have figured out the best place to park (and cheap) is the HDB car park at Delta Avenue. I parked there. Walked to the Malaysia High Comm at Jervois Road. 500m, less than 10 min walk. Reached the  Malaysia High Comm at 9:24AM (earlier than my appointment at 10AM). People there already formed a long queue before the main guardhouse! Advice: Go early! . The lady Indian security distributing the Health Declaration Form. Got it and filled up. 9:40AM, my turn to talk to the security. I show
